Market Grid Game Mode

Market Grid is the flagship game mode of BattleGrid. It combines the strategy of fantasy sports with the volatility of crypto trading.

In this mode, you draft a portfolio of 9 crypto assets into a 3x3 grid. Your goal is to predict the direction and magnitude of their price movement over a specific session duration.

1. Session Timing & Candles​

All games on BattleGrid are strictly aligned with standard UTC candles. Prices are locked in exactly at the start of the candle (the open) and settled at the end of the candle (the close).

There are three main session durations you can draft for:

  • Blitz (15m) : Aligns with standard :00, :15, :30, and :45 minute marks.
  • Offensive (1H) : Aligns with standard hourly candles (00:00, 01:00, etc.).
  • Siege (4H) : Aligns with the 4-hour cycle (00:00, 04:00, 08:00, etc.).

2. The Draft​

To enter a game, you must complete your grid by picking assets from the pool:

  • 9 Slots: You must fill all 9 slots in the grid.
  • Coin Pool: Select 9 distinct assets from the session's available pool (12-50 coins depending on host settings).
  • No Duplicates: You can only use each coin once per grid.

3. The Prediction​

For each cell in your grid, you must make a directional call:

DOWN Prediction

DOWN (Red)

  • UP (Green): You believe the price will be higher at the end of the session than at the start.
  • DOWN (Red): You believe the price will be lower at the end of the session.

4. The Captain​

You must designate one cell as your Captain. It is always the first coin in your grid (position 1).

  • Multiplier: The Captain earns 2x score when correct, but applies a 2x penalty when wrong.
  • Bonus: If the Captain is the best performer in your grid, you earn War Bonds.

Winning Conditions​

At the end of the session, all grids are ranked by Total Score.

  • In The Money (ITM): Based on the session's payout curve (default 50%). Tiers include Victor (1st), Heroes (Top 20% of the ITM field), and Survivors (the rest of the ITM field). You win a cash prize.
  • Casualties / OTM: You finish below the ITM cutoff and lose your entry fee.
  • 1st Place: The Victor wins a massive multiplier based on the curve shape.

Market Grid is not about picking safe coins. It's about finding the coins that will move the most in your chosen direction.
